Family Reunions are awkward...and i'm not entirely sure why, but you would all agree with me that they are, right? There's something about driving up to the camp site and everyone just turning around staring at your car. I think that's when my dad said, "why are family reunions so awkward?" Took the words right out of my mouth, dad. I've found that one thing solves this issue-getting involved. You've got to play the games, "be interested" in the family history albums, volunteer to run the fish pond, whatever it takes. So those of you who know me, know that I was sitting in a camp chair under the tree reading my Marie Claire magazine....thinking the pine trees were enough to cover my so-white-i'm-blue skin. Wrong, again. But those of you who have ever been to Pine Valley, UT know it's a really beautiful place and it brings back a lot of memories.
When I was in elementary school, my grandparents would gather up us grandkids and take us up there for a few days. Proof:
I hadn't been up there for years, so the day trip turned out to be a great getaway. Especially Pine Valley Reservoir.
For the record, I love funny family reunion stories. Lay 'em on me.

Hilarious post! So funny! I actually don't mind family reunions because mine are so big, you are hardly noticed. Our family band played for our last big Packard reunion outside up at Heber! It was like over a thousand people. That was a sweet experience for me. I love performing (even for a family reunion) and rarely get to.
We also had a huge family dance. Tons of people, old and young, known and unknown...I got thrown into the circle pretty fast, especially when the played Thriller...but don't worry. I tore the rug up.
1000 people?! are you for real right now? There was less than 50 at mine. it was just awesome. There was also no Thriller dance goin on. Do you have any single guys around my age? i'm considering marrying into your family.
Please notice Mady's face in the first picture haha so priceless! P.S. that was like my favorite outfit ever!
Mine is good. We rented a beach house a few years back for my family reunion and my grandpa comes out to where we were all playing in the water and he was wearing my grandmas shorts!! Haha what a goober. We never let him live it down, and we all still laugh about it.
Or there's the time (same beach house trip) my uncle fell asleep and we painted his toe nails red, and he didn't notice until the next day. Awesome!
I LOVE mady's face.hahahah
Becca- a beach house?! seriously! what the....i'm totes jealous right about now
Let me explain Austrie. You come from a very small family by our standards. My Great Grandparents, let's just start there. They had 17 children. Their children...had many children. My grandpa (mom's dad) had 7. That's slim pickin's compared to his older brother who had 14. The other 17 children had plenty as well...so you see, we have well over a thousand family members. That's just who came to the reunion ha ha. You should totally marry into this family. Pretty much anyone you meet with the last name "Packard" is a guaranteed member of the fam. They are spread out like wildfire. You can find one of these fine gentlemen anywhere in the country. Packard boys are very good looking but you might have trouble, they tend to be short. Good Luck!
Mady! hahah that first picture of her is great! hah
this is seriously a great post. haha. love love love it. too funny. and please find a packard boy. do it.
